i came across this gorgeous project on spaceinvading.com and LOVE it. it is the annual lake shikotsu ice festival in japan. makes me wish someone were doing something this creative with all the snow we have piled up here in boston!

Lovely, do you remember "Magic Rocks" I bought them as a kid. You add two types of chemicals to water and these amazing stalagmites grow. This photo reminds me of that.http://www.waynesthisandthat.com/magicrocks.htm
